The Teleprompter App lets you read a moving script while the camera is capturing video, making it appear to those that will be viewing the video, as though you are speaking spontaneously or from memory. This makes it an ideal tool for creating presentation videos for Youtube and similar platforms, or videos where you appear as an expert on a particular topic. To utilize all of its features, an internect connection is required.

Producing a video with the Teleprompter App is a 5-step process. Each step corresponds to a tab in the top row of the app’s user interface. The tabs are meant to be used in a left-to-right sequence. A brief explanation of each tab follows:

Tab 1 – Enter Script:

First, you must import some content into the app. This content will become the script that you will be reading later. There are four options to enter this content. It can be entered as a Text or PDF file, from your voice where a speech-to-text engine is utilized, from a keyword-based search result, or from a specific webpage URL. Note the vertical bar on the far right which you can drag to the left in order to expose an editing area for making corrections on the script.

Tab 2 – Adjust Script:

Next, you must decide how you want the script to move. There are three modes of script movement. It can scroll uniformly from top to bottom, shift horizontally sentence-by-sentence where each sentence stays on the screen for an interval that is proportional to the sentence length, or shift horizontally whenever the app detects a pause. The rate of the first two modes can be controlled by means of a slider. Although the third mode, where the sentence shifting is user-instigated, may seem as the most attractive, it may not be best for all situations as the pausing may seem awkward in the video. It may be best to use to use low-volume filler sounds like “um’s”, that will still trigger a shift, instead of well-defined pauses.

Tab 3 – Configure Preview:

This is where you define the settings of the camera. From the panel on the right, you can select the camera, microphone, switch preview On or Off, and switch face detection On or Off. Face detection is to help you focus on the location of your face in the video, it does not affect the outcome of the video in any way. The features of High Definition, Denoising and Exposure Priority may also be available for some cameras.

Tab 4 – Record

Now it’s time to produce the video. The settings that were defined under Tabs 2 and 3 determine the reading experience under this tab. To begin recording, click the Record Video button. To pause the recording, click Pause Video. Note that pausing the video shows the last frame superimposed into the preview. This is to help you position your face in the pause location when you click Resume Video, so that the discontinuity may not be noticed in the final result. The video recording can be made to start after a time interval by clicking the Start Timer button and entering the desired interval in seconds. The translucensy of the camera preview and script can be adjusted by means of sliders. These do not affect the resulting video.

Tab 5 – Edit

Under this tab, you can join multiple video clips, stabilize them, add an audio background, preview them and transcode the result in MP4, AVI or WMV format.
