Description
This app will create a storage for your contacts which you do not want to be synced to the cloud. From then on, whenever you create a contact in your contact list, you can choose to place it in “Local-Only Open Contact Store” or any other cloud-synced account you have set up on your phone.

*** Attention: Uninstalling this app from the phone will remove all the contacts you stored in the local-only contact store. A backup on a regular basis is highly recommended. ***

You can edit the contact details of the locally stored contacts (and also remove them) through the contact list as usual. All apps on your phone have read-only access to all properties of your locally stored contacts. If you prefer not to grant third-party apps (e.g. messenger or birthday reminder applications) access to all properties of your local-only contacts, you might prefer installing the “Local-Only Contact Store” application instead. Both apps can be installed and used side-by-side on your phone (and contacts from both contact stores can be linked as usual).

If you have contacts stored in other cloud-synced accounts on this phone and you no more want them to be there, you can import the data to your local-only contact storage. The contacts' data will be duplicated i.e. you then will have every contact in your address book twice – the local variant's display name gets suffixed with “(local-only open)”. Due to operating system restrictions apps are not allowed to remove address book entries. You will have to go through your contact list and check whether the data was copied correctly. If so, you then can remove the contacts from the cloud-synced accounts yourself right away in your address book. Note that due to system restrictions the ringtone for calls and for messaging you have possibly associated with a contact cannot be imported, backed-up nor restored. Furthermore a contact's anniversary cannot be imported but the birthday date can (backup and restore is available for both items). Importing linked contacts is possible (as long as none of them is a local-only contact already) but results in one merged local contact for all the linked contacts. Consider unlinking the contacts prior to importing.

Please be aware of the fact, that contacts in the local-only contact storage are only backed-up at times when you launch this app and explicitly perform a backup. The backup is encrypted and you can specify a password additionally. There is the option – after you consent to – to upload the backup to your OneDrive cloud storage. But you can also get the raw data of your backup copied to your phone's clipboard and paste the data wherever you like to (e.g. send yourself an email, paste it into Office or OneNote). Keep in mind that the data provided through the clipboard does not contain the display image data.
