The Union World Conference on Lung Health is the world’s largest gathering of clinicians and public health workers, health programme managers, policymakers, researchers and advocates working to end the suffering caused by tuberculosis (TB) and lung disease, with a focus specifically on the challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries. Of the ten million people who die each year from lung diseases, some 80 per cent live in these resource-limited countries.

Our theme this year, ‘Accelerating Toward Elimination’, builds on the momentum gathered in previous years to work towards achieving the ambitious goals that have been set for the global lung health agenda. It will focus on how to accelerate toward elimination on multiple fronts including elimination of TB and TB co-infections and the stigma that surrounds them, scaling up elimination of tobacco use and elimination of local and global threats to our collective lung health.; MoreLess
