1. Belladonna
From the same vocal sample source as Rennie's well known "Devil's Water" track.. Belladonna uses classic Detroit/Chicago style chords and pads to create an emotive atmosphere around the haunting melancholy of the voice. The sputtering hats and clicks, jerky and unusual kick pattern and crisp, jacking 808ish snare take classic drum machine style sounds and turn them on their head with imaginative programming . A mysterious and dramatic soundtrack to any scene.
2. Butterfingers
Classic style deep house with an obvious influence from MPC/SP1200 style hip hop production. Stripped down, tight and crisp snare and claps are exaggerated with frequent change ups and fills. A warm and organic bass groove carries the momentum. Latin-esque cut up vocal samples, heavy on the grit, bring the raw, fierce energy of early 90s NY house music and the jazzy horn riffs provide the smooth soul. House music for people who are deep into the vibe of house. And this ...is fresh!
3. Ghostlife
This up-tempo loopy cut is built on a rolling, tribal shaker type groove, reminiscent of Oliver Ho's classic "Meta" material or Mills in "Purpose Maker" mode and a low end, subdued acid bass-line. The "Ghostly" vocal samples bring a contrasting, but strangely lovely, New Wave 80s vibe. The outcome is unique and effective in creating a spooky, hypnotic atmosphere, somewhat dark and introspective. A provocative piece of music.
4. Water Drums
An original fusion of stripped down, crisp, minimal style production and classic tribalism. Ethnic vocal samples, somewhat similar to "Deep Forest", Paint an innocent picture of a family in the rain-forest while cold, futuristic percussion follows a precision path along the rhythm of villagers drumming with their hands on the life giving river. Dubby effects jump and twist every element in just the right way to glue the whole thing together. It's another startling and masterful contrast.
