Description
General

The Logotec App Studio is a solution (offered as a multitenant cloud-service) that enables creating Windows 10 (Universal Windows Platform), multi-tier, database applications within days or hours, instead of months – completely without programming.

It enables easy and fast building of Windows 10, database applications (applications in the „new style” Universal Windows Platform).

The created applications (Universal Windows Platform) run on all devices (computers, tablets and smartphones) running under Windows 10.

It enables it completely without programming. It can be used by programmers, who want to accelerate the process of building applications radically, by IT consultants, as well as by „power users” - people who cannot program effectively, but have at least basic knowledge regarding databases.

In most cases, it accelerates the building process (in comparison with traditional methods) by two orders of magnitude - the time shortens from months to days or hours.

As an example a solution based on the well-known, example Microsoft database Northwind, can be created within about three hours (with no programming). The time necessary to do it with the traditional methods (by a programmer with good experience) would be not shorter than about two months.

The shortened time and radically reduced costs enable using it also for building “ad-hoc” prototypes (to easier convince possible customers).

Defining an application – short overview.

After you download Logotec App Studio client from the Windows Store, you will be able to register at the Logotec App Studio service. After you do it, you can create your applications based on a few example databases, or on your own MS SQL Server database. The process of defining an application consist of following steps:

Using example databases (strongly recommended as a first step):
- Start Logotec App Studio, then start creating a new application
- Select the “adapter” you want to use (use “MS SQL Server" adapter only)
- Accept the parameters of the example database (the web address, credential allowing access to the example database, the name of the example database)
- Decide which tables from the database should be used
- Customize the main-site of the application
- Customize all other objects of your application
- Publish the application
- Run (test the application) using the default “admin” user (with the “admin” password)
- Repeat the above process (customization + publishing) as many times as necessary
--- Add user and user-groups and define users permissions
--- After you are ready, you can create installation file packages allowing installation on any computer (sideload installation) - if the settings of that computer allow installing applications coming outside of the Windows Store),
--- You can also create installation packages which can be send to Windows Store for publication

Using your own database:
- Create a MS SQL Server database, and configure the access to your server and your database so, that it can be accessed by Logotec App Studio
All versions of MS SQL Server starting from 2008 are supported.
- Start Logotec App Studio and start creating a new application
- Select the “MS SQL Server” adapter
- Enter
--- the web address of your database
--- the credential allowing access to your database (username and password)
--- the name of your database
- Decide which tables from the database should be used
- Customize the main-site of the application
- Customize all other objects of your application
- Publish the application
- Run (test the application) using the default “admin” user (with the “admin” password)
Repeat the above process (customization + publishing) as many times as necessary
- Add user and user-groups and define users permissions
- After you are ready, you can:
--- Create installation file packages allowing installation on any computer (sideload installation) - if the settings of that computer allow installing applications coming outside of the Windows Store),
or
--- Create installation packages which can be send to Windows Store for publication

Continuum fully supported.
